Johnny Mustion has been working in sports media since 2019 where he worked on a basketball radio show in his hometown.
Now, in a sports hub like Miami - Johnny has expanded his love and expertise for sports media. Since 2024, Johnny has been a reporter, host, and segment producer for UMTV’s award-winning sports program, SportsDesk.
In addition, Johnny has been a longtime broadcaster and producer for the University of Miami’s radio station, WVUM 90.5 FM “The Voice”, calling 40+ baseball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer games during his years as an undergrad.
Johnny has also worked in professional sports as a Broadcast and Television Intern for the Sussex County Miners baseball club in Augusta, NJ. He has also had experience working as a Broadcast Assistant for University of Miami athletics.
Behind the Post
Throughout 2025, I served as the host and producer of Behind the Post on UMTV’s award-winning sports show, SportsDesk. The segment explores the ins and outs of Miami Hurricanes social media and its impact on Cane fans across the country.
As host, I guided the creative vision of the segment, developing it into a content-rich, engaging experience that combined sports analysis, humor, and variety. Over the course of the year, I pushed the boundaries of storytelling and digital content, creating a segment that entertained viewers while offering a deeper look at how social media shapes fan engagement.

Off the Bench - March 2025
During my time on SportsDesk, I also had the opportunity to host the interactive sports segment, Off the Bench. For this special edition, I visited the training facilities of South Florida’s Coastal Championship Wrestling. Full of confidence, let’s just say I was humbled when met with two of the most feared wrestlers in the state.
This segment and episode of SportsDesk was then nominated for the Sports category in the 2026 College Television Awards in Los Angeles, California. Result currently pending.
